After preparing for his own SAT by attending costly group sessions with an established name-brand company, Matt found that there were no study assignments or follow-ups and that his personal weaknesses were not being addressed. Realizing that many students like himself were becoming lost in the crowd, he established an alternative one-on-one method of tutoring that proved effective for motivating students and achieving outstanding exam results. By 1998, in response to growing demand for his personal tutoring services, Matt created Jump Start Tutoring, Inc., whose mission was to help students of all skill levels achieve their educational goals and specifically, to prepare them for the essential ACT and SAT exams.

Matt has since expanded JST with locations in Ardsley and Eastchester, each having modern, private tutoring rooms, as well as rooms for diagnostic and practice exam testing.
